Researching The Firm

Get To Know The Company

There is a good chance the employer has done their research on you, and now it’s your turn to show what you know about them. There is nothing worse than being asked ‘what do you know about our company?’ and being left speechless. You really should know the company you want to spend the next part of your life working for.

Look For Information

Their website is a great place to start. You should be able to find information on their company history, their values, their culture, and they may have a meet the team page which will show potential colleagues, many of which can be researched further on their LinkedIn profiles. A number of firms also have blogs on their website which is a great way of learning what they’ve been involved with recently, and there’s a fair chance you’ll find information on past projects or case studies. You will also want to search social media for any recent news articles or publications.

Using This Information

You can start to build rapport with the interviewer and get an interesting conversation off the ground from the moment you meet by using just a little knowledge about the company. Asking questions about previous projects during the interview will only show you in a positive light too and sharing information on similar projects you have being a part of will only reinforce this further. The more you know, the better you will come across.
